Arthritis
Arthritis
Arthritis is inflammation of a joint. Although joint inflammation is a symptom rather than a specific diagnosis, arthritis is often used to refer to any disorder that affects joints. There are more than 200 types of arthritis and related conditions; the most common arthritis conditions are osteoarthritis (OA) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). It is common in adults 65 and older, but it can affect people of all ages.
In osteoarthritis, the joints will show signs of wear and tear, which increases as time goes by. In rheumatoid arthritis, the body’s immune system attacks the joints, which can become red and swollen if not treated.
